Current Research Interests
1 - Liver Histology and Histopathology (undergoing studies in rat, brown trout, Ohrid trout, and tilapia). Steroid influences.
2 - Modelling of hepatocytic and renal peroxisomes by sexual steroids and mimics (using brown trout as a model)
3 - Ecopathology of wild fish (survey on lesions found in Portuguese inland and estuarine waters) 
4 - Use and adaptation of stereological tools to solve interesting biological problems
a. Age-related changes in the rat cerebellar cortex
b. Muscle growth dynamics in fish (red sea-bream, trout)
c. Evaluation of toxicophatic lesions in diverse organs
d. Evaluating gradients and competence of oocytes and embryos
